Overdue and Lost Books
If your child should bring home a reminder that his/her book (s) is overdue; it is just that, a reminder. Book (s) are checked out one week at a time. If a student needs the book for a longer period of time, they can renew it on their library day. Books will be renewed until he/she no longer needs it unless there is a hold on it by another student. Then, the book (s) will be renewed only twice.
If a book is lost or damaged, please let the library know immediately and appropriate fees will be sent to the student and his/her parents. Usually, lost book fees are sent out after two months of being overdue. Feel free to call me, Sharon, if you have any questions on this. The library would prefer to have their already bar coded books back and in circulation than to have to replace them.
District policy states that students will be charged the current replacement amount of each lost or completely damaged book, plus a $5.00 processing fee to cover the costs of shipping, processing and cataloging. If after payment has been received and the book is found and returned, a refund will be issued according to the condition of the book.
District policy also states that if a book/magazine has been damaged to the point of having to be replaced, that item will not be returned.
